Children’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of addiction treatment that provides structured support to individuals recovering from substance use disorders or behavioral addictions. PHP typically involves group therapy sessions and individual counseling sessions, and may also include other types of therapy and support such as medication management, nutritional counseling, and recreational activities.

PHPs are designed for individuals who do not require the level of support provided by inpatient treatment, but who still need more support than what is available through traditional outpatient treatment or an intensive outpatient program (IOP). PHP typically meets a few days a week for several hours at a time, and may last for several weeks or months depending on the individual’s needs.

Outpatient Treatment in Ohio

The goals of a PHP are to help individuals develop the skills and coping mechanisms needed to maintain abstinence from substances or behaviors, and to improve their overall mental and physical health. PHPs are typically less expensive and less time-consuming than inpatient treatment, and allow individuals to continue with their daily responsibilities, such as work and school, while receiving treatment.
